Jan 2026 > The obvious highlight of the month was travelling out to Inis Meainn on a bright winter day to carry out a BER survey post Solar PV installation. It was really mixing business with pleasure strolling around the beautiful island in the afternoon.

Dec 2025 > A real contrast this month between surveying a few fantastic brand new builds close to Claregalway and all the care and thought that goes into them versus a survey we did on a dwelling affected by pyrite. Very different emotions for those homeowners.

Nov 2025 > We had the pleasure of taking on a Scandinavian Homes build for BER and Air Tightness. It was interesting to understand their approach and methods towards achieving high levels of air tightness and low annual energy needs. Look forward to doing more of them!

Oct 2025 > On a BER survey in Shrule, Co.Mayo we encountered a 1980's house  modernised with a well insulated external envelope including triple glazed windows but with no central heating system. It was one of those occasions where an 'air-to-air' heat pump system may be a great solution.

Sept 2025 > A BER for an apartment proved very interesting. The details of shared but unheated access corridors, adjacent units below and either side and all electric heating required the DEAP manual to be checked to ensure an accurate BER rating.

Aug 2025 > We take holidays too ;-)  BUT we still managed to hit BER Surveys in Mayo, Roscommon, Galway, Clare and Westmeath. A few miles on the clock for sure in just two weeks of activity.

July 2025 > eTherm went far and wide doing Air Tightness in Kinvara, Part L Compliance in Monivea, and  the ABC's of BER in Athlone, Banagher, Crusheen and Doonbeg!

June 2025 > Top project this month was a Provisional BER in Roscommon for a self builder looking to ensure they know how to hit an NZEB - Nearly Zero Energy Building result before they ever break ground on the site. A Provisional BER should be enforced as part of all planning permission submissions.

May 2025 > Spent the month wrapping up the last of over 100 BER Surveys in Galway and surrounding counties for the SEAI Warmer Homes Scheme working with KSN Energy. Hopefully those homes will benefit from attic and wall insulation as well as some heating upgrades soon!
